Workstation Technician

Job Purpose: 

This position exists to perform certain support tasks, under the direction and supervision of the Team Leader, which contribute to the efficient installation, maintenance and repair of workstation devices (e.g., fixed function terminals, personal computers, printers and associated equipment).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists with the installation and maintenance of workstation hardware and software.
  • Effects basic repairs to computer equipment no longer covered by warranty.
  • Assists with monitoring workstation performance.
  • Responds to questions and requests for help from users to enable them to make effective use of computer hardware and software.
  • Keeps storage areas in orderly and organised manner at all times.
  • Maintains an adequate inventory of consumables, PC and network hardware spares, preparing requisitions for replenishment at levels indicated by Standard Practice.  Follows up on requisitions to ensure timely receipt of items ordered. Receives supply orders and updates inventory records.
  • Issues supplies on schedule or when requisitioned. Records issues and deducts from on-hand inventory.  Periodically takes physical inventory to verify accuracy of records.

Special Conditions Associated With The Job:

  • Work will be conducted in an office outfitted with standard office equipment and specialized software.  The environment is fast paced with on-going interactions with critical stakeholders and meeting tight deadlines which will result in high degrees of pressure, on occasions. May be required to travel locally between parishes as necessary.
  • Requires dexterity to lift computer, network parts, crawl under desks to configure computer systems.
  • Moves from location to location

  • Effective communication skills and keen commitment to providing superb customer service.

Minimum Required Education and Experience:

  • First degree or equivalent technical qualification, preferably in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
  • 1 years’ experience with installation and maintenance of personal computers, operating systems and application software.
