Kingston, Jamaica:
On Monday, May 18, 2015, members of the Jamaica Customs Contraband Enforcement Team (CET), officers from the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s, Narcotics Division (ND) and Port Security personnel seized a shipment consisting of nine (9) duffle bags containing 711.3 lbs/322.64 kgs of marijuana with an estimated street value of JMD $3.5M or US $30,926.09 concealed in an empty container at Kingston Wharves.
During a routine examination of containers, officers found a container with discrepancies leading to the seizure of nine (9) duffle bags with 188 packages containing substances resembling Marijuana. Subsequent field tests confirmed the substance to be Marijuana.
The matter is currently being investigated by the Border Protection Unit of the Jamaica Customs Agency and the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Narcotics Division.
No arrest has been made in conjunction with the seizure.
